Terms of Service
How you may use Velpo, what you can expect from us, and the App Store license terms.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Matthias Joekel, the operator of Velpo ("Velpo", "we", "us"). They cover the Velpo iPhone app, Apple Watch companion, website at velpoapp.com, TestFlight builds, and related features (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
In short
Velpo helps you keep everyday pet-care records — it is not a veterinary, medical, or emergency service and never replaces your vet. Your data stays yours; you grant us only the permissions needed to run the app and to share with the Circle members you invite. Use Velpo lawfully and only for pets you're responsible for. The app is downloaded from Apple's App Store, so Apple's terms also apply.
1. Who we are, and what these Terms cover
Velpo is an independent product operated by Matthias Joekel. These Terms apply to the whole Service, including the website, Circle sharing, sync, widgets, and Apple Watch features.
2. Velpo is not veterinary or medical care
Velpo is a pet care and wellness organisation tool. It helps you record daily care and notice patterns. It does not diagnose, assess urgency, recommend medication or doses, or provide veterinary, medical, or emergency advice, and its wellness scores and prompts are informational only — built from what you log, never invented. Always rely on a qualified veterinarian for your pet's health, and contact a vet or emergency clinic for any urgent concern. You are responsible for decisions you make about your pet's care.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live). If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must allow your use of Velpo and agree to these Terms for you.
- You may use some features locally without an account. Account features, backup, sync, subscriptions, Circle sharing, and some server-backed features require sign-in.
- You sign in through our authentication provider, including Sign in with Apple or email authentication. Keep your Apple ID, email account, and device secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- Provide accurate information, and keep it current, so the Service works as intended.
4. Acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Velpo for your own non-commercial pet care, subject to these Terms. You agree not to:
- break the law, infringe others' rights, or upload content you don't have the right to share;
- upload unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, or anyone else's personal data without a proper basis;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its data (except where such restriction is prohibited by law);
- scrape, resell, or build a competing product from the Service; or
- misuse the Circle to access pets or records you have not genuinely been invited to.
5. Your content and the Circle
You own your content. The pets, logs, Moments, photos, notes, and other records you create remain yours. To run the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, back up, process, transmit, and display that content — only as needed to provide the app to you and to the people you invite, and to keep it synced and recoverable across your devices.
The Circle. You can invite others (for example a partner, family member, walker, or pet sitter) into a pet's private Circle, with roles such as co-owner or pet sitter. Circle members can see and contribute to the records for the pets they're invited to, and entries may show who logged them. You decide who to invite and can change or remove access at any time. Only invite people you trust with your pet's information, and make sure you have the right to share anything you add. If you contribute care to a pet owned by someone else and later delete your account, factual care entries may be kept as part of that pet's history but detached from you — see the Privacy Policy.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices. Velpo may request optional device permissions such as location, HealthKit, camera/photos, and notifications. If you decline or revoke a permission, the related feature may not work.
7. Availability and changes
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, and we don't promise the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We'll try to avoid disruption and to give notice of significant changes where practical.
8. Pricing and purchases
Velpo is free to download and use at the free tier. The optional paid subscription, Velpo Plus, unlocks additional features (see the Pricing page for details). Local price, duration, trial eligibility if any, renewal terms, and cancellation details are shown in the app before purchase. Purchases made through the app are processed by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions; subscriptions renew until cancelled, and you manage, restore, or cancel them in your App Store account settings. Deleting your Velpo account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple in line with its policies.
9. App Store and app licence (EULA)
You download Velpo from Apple's App Store. Your licence to install and use the Velpo app is Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA"), available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. By downloading Velpo you agree to that licence. Among other things, it limits use to Apple-branded devices you own or control; confirms the app licence is between you and Velpo (Apple is not a party, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries that can enforce it); and provides that Apple has no maintenance, support, or warranty obligation for the app — Velpo provides any support at hello@velpoapp.com, and App Store purchases and refunds are handled by Apple.
These Terms apply in addition to the Apple Standard EULA and govern the wider Velpo service (the Circle, sync, and website). If the Apple Standard EULA conflicts with these Terms on a matter that the Apple Standard EULA covers, the Apple Standard EULA controls for that matter.
10. Our intellectual property
The Velpo app, website, name, logo, design, and content (other than your own content) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you the limited licence described above; we don't grant you any other rights. Please don't copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as the law allows.
11. Third-party services
Velpo relies on third-party providers — including Supabase, Apple, Firebase Crashlytics, Resend, Vercel, and RevenueCat. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their parts of the Service. We are not responsible for third-party websites, services, or policies outside the parts we control.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that wellness insights are accurate, complete, or suitable for any decision about your pet's health. Nothing here excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Velpo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. If you are a consumer, your mandatory legal rights are not affected, and nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover reasonable losses we incur from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you upload that infringes someone else's rights. This does not apply to the extent a loss is caused by us.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Velpo at any time and delete your account from the app's Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive (such as content licence to the extent needed to operate, disclaimers, liability limits, and the App Store terms) survive termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer-law provisions of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
