Set up your pet and choose how you want to use Velpo.
When you first open Velpo, it walks you through creating your pet's profile — name, whether they're a dog or cat, breed (including mixed and custom breeds), birthday and weight. You can add a photo too.
The free plan covers one pet; Velpo Plus lets you add up to six. When you have more than one, switch between them from the Home screen — each pet keeps its own wellness picture, history and Moments.
There are two ways to start, and you can change your mind later:
You can always sign in later — your on-device records are pushed up to your new account.
Without an account, your data lives only on this device. That means no backup, no sync to other devices, and no Shared Circle — and if you delete the app, switch phones, or lose the device, the records are gone.
If any of that matters to you, sign in with Apple. Velpo also reminds you of this from the welcome screen, the Home screen and Settings so the choice stays clear.
From the Home orbit you log light, day-to-day care across seven areas — State, Energy, Feeding, Activity, Rest, Connect and Medication — plus Moments for photos and memories. You only ever log what's useful; nothing is required.

Your pet sits at the centre; the nodes around them are how you log.
Tap a node on the orbit and a quick sheet slides up. Make a couple of choices, then Save — that's it. It's light daily logging: a few taps as things happen through the day.
There are no streaks and no guilt for an off day. Log what's helpful and skip the rest — the picture still works.
Made a mistake or want to tidy up? Find the entry in your pet's care history and tap it to change the details or remove it.
In a Shared Circle, every entry shows who logged it, so the household always knows who fed Indie this morning.
The Apple Watch companion handles quick care on the go — state, food, medication, treatments, notes and red-flag capture — and live walk tracking. Everything you log on the Watch syncs back to your iPhone. The Apple Watch app is part of Velpo Plus; subscribe on your iPhone to unlock it.
How Velpo turns your logs into an at-a-glance picture — and where the line is.
Velpo's wellness read is rules-based, not generative AI. It looks across a rolling two-week window of what you've logged and weighs several areas of wellbeing — comfort & mobility; nutrition, hydration & elimination; activity, play & enrichment; emotional wellbeing; rest & recovery; and environment, agency & care.
It's built only from your own entries — it doesn't invent care facts or pull in outside data to judge your pet.
Rather than holding every pet to one fixed ideal, Velpo also compares recent activity against your pet's own ~30-day baseline. So “normal” means normal for them — a quiet senior cat and a bouncy young dog aren't measured the same way.
Each picture comes with a confidence level. Sparse logs mean lower confidence — you may see “still learning” early on. The more consistently you log across areas, the higher confidence climbs and the more useful the read becomes. It's context, not a grade.
Pick a Health Focus — such as rest, feeding, anxiety, general health or social — and Velpo brings the handful of nodes most relevant to that focus forward on Home, so the things you care about most are a tap away.
Care Insights surfaces plain-language patterns from your last 7 days of logs for free. Velpo Plus unlocks insight ranges beyond the free 7-day window.
When you record certain signs (for example breathing difficulty, repeated digestive upset, or distress), Velpo can surface a follow-up. These are record-keeping prompts and safety reminders, not diagnoses.
Velpo is a pet care & wellness tool — not a veterinary, medical or emergency service. It doesn't diagnose, judge urgency or advise on doses. If you're worried about your pet, contact your vet.
The photos and little memories that aren't really “care data”.
Save a photo, a note, and the place it happened as a Moment. They collect into a timeline you can scroll back through whenever you want a smile — the muddy walk, the first snow, the windowsill nap.
Turn any Moment into a share card to send to family or post wherever you like. You stay in control of what leaves the app.
Moments gives you richer ways to revisit your days — all free: a map of where they happened, a mosaic view, and on-this-day resurfacing that brings back memories from a year ago.
Keep partners, family and a pet sitter on the same page.
From the Circle screen, create an invite link and share it however you like — Messages, email, whatever's easiest. The person opens the link, signs in with Apple, and joins.
A Shared Circle needs Velpo Plus, but only the owner pays — invited caregivers just need a free Velpo account to take part.
You choose the role when you invite someone, so a dog walker sees what they need without managing the Circle.
You're always in control of who's in the Circle. Manage members or remove someone's access at any time from the Circle screen. Only invite people you trust with your pet's information.
Velpo can notify the Circle about shared activity — turn each category on or off so everyone gets the updates that matter to them and nothing they don't. You set your own preferences in Velpo and in iOS Settings.
The switches that tailor Velpo to your routine — and how to manage your data.
Holiday Mode is part of Velpo Plus. Turn it on when your pet is boarding, travelling, or staying with someone who isn't using Velpo. Missed routine logs are treated as neutral for that stretch, and Velpo prompts a return check-in when the mode ends — so a break doesn't dent the wellness picture.
Velpo can schedule local reminders for meals, medication and care tasks so nothing slips. They're entirely yours to set — adjust or switch them off any time in Velpo and iOS Settings.
With Velpo Plus, weather prep alerts flag conditions that may affect your pet. Heat, cold, strong wind and heavy rain arrive as one morning digest (around 9 am) covering the next 24 hours; thunderstorms push 30 minutes before the event so you can act fast.
Alerts use your pet's location with your permission and your own per-pet thresholds. The owner's subscription covers the whole Circle.
Velpo only uses these for features you choose. Location powers live walk tracking and saved places for Moments and appointments; HealthKit can save pet walks as workouts in Apple Health. You can grant or revoke either in iOS Settings.
You can edit or delete many records right in the app, and Velpo Plus can export a vet report (PDF) to bring to an appointment. To request a full data export or deletion, email hello@velpoapp.com.
The free plan covers one pet, daily logging across all seven areas, weekly reflections, the wellness read, 7-day Care Insights, Moments (including map, mosaic & on-this-day), reminders, and multi-device sync & cloud backup*. Velpo Plus adds the Apple Watch app, up to six pets, Holiday Mode, the Shared Circle, full insight history, walk route history, weather alerts, vet report export and custom food.

Subscriptions are handled by Apple and managed in your App Store account settings.
How accounts work in Velpo — short version: Sign in with Apple.
Velpo uses Sign in with Apple as its only account sign-in — there's no email or password to create, confirm or reset. Your Apple ID handles it, and Velpo gets only what it needs.
Started without an account? When you sign in with Apple, the records already on your iPhone are pushed up to your new account — so you keep your history and gain backup, multi-device sync, and the ability to join a Shared Circle when someone invites you. (Hosting your own Circle is a Velpo Plus feature.)
If someone shared a Velpo invite link with you, open it on your iPhone and sign in with Apple to join their Circle. You only need a free account — no Velpo Plus — to take part as a co-owner or pet sitter.
